You Are Pinot Noir |
Sophisticated and worldly, you probably know more about wine than most drinkers. You have great taste, and you approach all aspects of life with a gourmet attitude. You believe that the little things in life should be cherished and enjoyed... and of the best quality possible. And while you may take more time to eat a meal or tour a city, it's always time well spent. Deep down you are: A seductive charmer Your partying style: Refined. And you would never call it "partying" Your company is enjoyed best with: Stinky expensive cheese |

Off to the Library
My daughter Leona loves to read and it makes my heart glad. It is amazing to me that after only ½ a year in kindergarten she can already read. I think when I was a kid it we just colored pictures at that age. But she can read and write sentences and even do some basic math. I'm very impressed with the local school system.
One of the motivations I used this week to keep the kids in line was to promise to take them to the library if they behave all week. Their reward is to get to take out two books each. Amazing I get to reward my kids by encouraging them to read.
Preserving your Family History Part Four
Find out about family past before the old die out. Do wait till your parents or grandparents are dead before you look at they past. Nothing will be more of a blessing to the senior citizens in your family then to take a brief interest in their lives. Sit down with them and help them label their photo albums. Help them make up a family bible type journal filled with info on their parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins just like you did for yourself.
Helping them take that trip down memory lane and giving them the knowledge that you are helping to preserve those memories will make a lot higher in their opinion. Besides you may find out very interesting info about your family.
Preserving your Family History Part Three
Keep a Family Bible type record. I know now one keeps a family bible anymore, but in the day if was how people kept track of births, deaths and marriages. It is a great idea to write down when you were born and where, when you where married and where. Write down similar info on your spouse, your siblings and your spouses’ siblings. Then when any new births, marriages or deaths take place record them as well.
Preserving your Family History Part Two
Label the pictures in the Photo Album. I inherited a photo album filled with pictures of my grandparents when they were young. There are lots of pictures of what might be their aunts, uncles, siblings, parents and even grandparents. I even have a photo so old it is on tin. I have a photo of a man in a Civil War uniform of the Union Army only I don’t know how he is. I am scanning all these photos to preserve but will not be able to identify over half of those in the pictures. Don’t let future generations lose out on this valuable info.
Having some simple index of who is who in each photo album will insure maintaining that person’s identity. When you pass away someday your children or grandchildren will not know that they are looking at you at 6 years old sitting on Uncle John’s lap. If you are not willing to do so you should take the photos with you in the coffin because the memory of those who have goon before you is lost forever.

Preserving your Family History - Part One
Even if you are not into family history per say please realize that most likely someone in your family will start searching their family roots. It could be one of you children or grandchildren, it could be a niece or nephew or even yourself ten years from now. They may even have to do this for a school project someday. Don’t be the disappointing relative who is ignorant of your family background.
We all take pictures, video and keep keepsakes to preserve our memories. But we do a poor job of keeping those memories alive for the next generation. Often our memories die with us simply because we never thought of organizing things in away that will allow our children or great grandchildren to know what these symbols of our memories mean. In the next couple of posts I will discuss a few simple things that we can all do properly preserve the family history.

Computer Issues
Then I got the virus from hell that I fought with for days and lost the battle. I ended up formatting my hard drive and reinstalling all the software. A day or two latter Joy started having issues with my old computer. So since she is making money blogging and to this point I am not we switched computers again.
She was happy to have her computer back and I was back to square one. The stupid computer was not registering that it even had a hard drive. After so computer surgery and a few dozen choice words from me it finally registered the existence of the hard drive that once again was reformatted. Once again I have had to go and reinstall all the software all over again.
So if I haven’t responded to your shouts or posted anything new or visited your blog recently please forgive me and blame the “xxx xxxx” computer not me.
